Local Make-up Artist Wins National Award
On Saturday November 1st 2003, at the Metro Toronto Convention Center Susan attended the Canadian Network of Make-up Artists Annual Awards Ceremony. These prestigious awards honour, acknowledge and celebrate top Canadian make-up artists from across the country and recognize them for their creativity, work excellence and achievement in 2002-2003.
Susan Kesler took the award for Best Make-up Artist in the Direct Sales category. Her outstanding contribution and dedication to her art makes her well deserving of this award. To qualify for this award Susan was nominated by her peers across Canada. Based on thle number of nominations she received, Susan and 2 others qualified to be finalists for this category. At this point all finalists had to submit a resume, letter of commendation and other supporting documents. The finalists were evaluated on the basis of these documents by a panel of prominent Canadian Make-up Artists. Each judge was asked to individually pick the winner for each category and submit their selections on an official tally sheet to William Reed Chartered Accountants. The results were revealed at the Awards Ceremony where the air bristled with anticipation and excitement.

In 1990 Susan opened her Total Image Studio in Saskatoon offering colour draping, wardrobe planning, bridal and grad make-up and corporate seminars to individuals and groups in Saskatoon and surrounding area. Since 1997 Susan has taught hundreds of young girls through her summer day camp, Beauty Boot Camp and her Healthy Beauty Classes for teens. Combining her Masters degree in Nursing with her make-up and image training she has worked, through her programs, to build self-esteem in young girls and to teach them to be critical and wary of the medias portrayal of beauty. True beauty comes from within.
In the area of TV and Film Susans work can be seen in SaskTel and Parks Canada commercials. For several years she was the Image and Make-up consultant for Global TV, Saskatoon. A highlight for Susan was doing the make-up for CBC, TSN and ABC sports announcers at Skate Canada here in Saskatoon. In the Spring of 2000 Susan opened her Make-up Academy to train others in the art of Make-up. Hers was the first privately run, government approved make-up school in Saskatoon.
Lastly, Susan has volunteered numerous hours every year to work on make-up for local theatre productions, musicals, church dramas and the Saskatoon Opera company. Susan has written the Real Life Makeover column in the Neighbourhood News for the past 2 1/2 years.
In all her various pursuits Susan uses BeautiControl Cosmetics. Their professional line of skin care, make-up and spa products are top quality, easy on the budget and suitable for photography, film and everyday life. Since 1995 Susan has been the top Canadian Sales Director in Canada and in 2003 she was promoted to Executive Director and earned the BeautiControl Top Achievers Trip to the Virgin Islands. She has been a National Trainer with the company since 1991 traveling across Canada training Certified Skincare, Image and Spa consultants.
Susan has been married to Tony Kesler since 1976 and they have three children, Joel, Sarah and Andrew.
